Reflections on Worship, 5: Heart of God

God loves in full... we love in part.
The awesome fullness of God's love is the inspiration expressed through Amanda Lindsey Cook's worship song Pieces. Please find a quiet place to meditate on this beautiful worship offering; among the most moving that I have heard.

Pieces - Amanda Lindsey Cook

As humans we fall short. We fail ourselves, we fail others. We can find that our love is incomplete. This sounds flippant, but it need not be, if we don't accept this as our reality. For gazing into God's love simultaneously enables us to grieve our own sins while inspiring us to a more complete love in the manner of God's love. And in God's love for us we realize that our failures need not be the end of our story. We worship a God who is ever picking us up and pulling is into a love that isn't partial, that isn't halting, but rather that comes near to us, is "proud to be seen with us." The apostle Paul speaks in truth when he elevates love above all spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 13. I'll not say more ... the song speaks for itself.

The recording of Pieces in the link  above is from 2018. The studio recording of the song is the last track on Cook's 2015 Brave New World, which won the Dove Award for Inspirational Album of the Year. Pieces was nominated for Inspirational Recorded Song of the year. Cook is perhaps the most talented and influential Christian artist that you may not have heard of. She was Gospel Music Association Canada Female Vocalist of the Year four years in a row. Since joining the Bethel Music Collective in 2010, she has had a deep influence on the emergence and prominence of live worship in this decade.

Not only bringing exceptional vocal talent, Cook is gifted in prophetic (spontaneous inspirational) ministry that is woven throughout the live worship sessions. Her vocal improvisations, in both song and in word, create a powerful ministry experience. Through the Bethel worship ministry, she often shared the stage with Steffany Gretzinger, who also ministers with extraordinary gifts and passion. They are part of a generation that has elevated the impact of ministry through worship, and it is apparent that they have influenced many other worship leaders.

Cook has several studio albums, the most recent being House on a Hill. Many other live recordings are available in association with Bethel music.
